Hair and politics - There is a lot to it

There is a big connection between hair and political success.  The article cited here gives the discussion some depth.  It is worth a look.
I have always stated that you do not vote for a candidate with bad hair.  Not because I am all about appearances... But because I am all about substance and capability and getting the job done.  The number one biggest concern about voting for a candidate with bad hair is that his or her bad hair says more about the people he chooses to surround himself with that it says about him.  Surround yourself with Yes-men and no one will point out that your hair looks horrible.  Surround yourself with bright, talented, capable people and one of them will speak up. If they are afraid to comment negatively about your haircut... they will never trash your economic plan.  And if a staffer tells you your hair looks bad... you should likely listen to more of what they offer up.  They are not afraid to speak out... and when they do, likely it will be worth hearing.  For every comb-over in Washington DC there are 1 dozen staffers currying favor and lying to keep their jobs.  I have visited the barbershop in the basement of the capitol in DC... These guys are talented cutters... problem is they aren't speaking up either.

Trend in transition - David Beckham - Fall/Winter 2012

As director of education for the schools division of Marianna industries I am making my fall/winter 2012 men’s hair trend predictions in my blog in this and a few upcoming posts.

The look seen here is a great haircut for David Beckham. This is a great haircut for any guy wishing to be on trend as men's hair trends transition from Spring/Summer to Fall/Winter 2012.   Plan to see a lot of Beckham in the ramp up to the Olympics in the coming weeks.

Disconnection and asymmetry were the two big elements of the trend cut I had promoted for spring/summer 2012.  These two trends will still be seen, but another dominant fashion influence will emerge… it will pick up where the last trend left off… and make a run at the heads of fashion forward guys on its own.

Times change.  Fashion moves on. The next big trend in men’s hair for fall/winter 2012 is the deep side parting.  Beckham’s cut pictured here features an interesting combination of both the deep side part and the disconnection trend.  One side (his right) is a classic taper cut… tight on the side and blended up into a longer top section.  The longer top can be worn parted over or faux-hawked up in classic Beckham style.  The other side is a hard deep side part, completely non-blended, completely disconnected.

My mannequin images show other views of the same look as Beckham is sporting.

Deep partings are defined as deep the following ways:

1.    Deep refers to the idea that the parting extends deep into the haircut… back past the top of the ear.

2.    Deep refers to the idea that the parting appears well off center.  A deep parting is even with the pupil of the eye or further towards the ear.

Based upon the info above a shallow parting can be deep… not too far back, but off to the side… and a deep parting can be shallow… low on the side but not too far into the head… But to be on this trend a parting will be both deep and deep… projecting back past the top of the ear and to the pupil or beyond.

These cuts have some styling variation as a parting is not necessarily cut into the top length arrangement.  A big glop of firm hold gel can carve a parting in place and hold it there all day.  The top can feature a lot of texture if you desire, too.

Be looking for more on this trend n the next few weeks.

See this as a natural evolution of the Mad Men TV inspired styles that were popular over a year ago combined with the disconnection trend form last year and the desire to cut loose with styling a bit, too.

India - Time to go short says a stylist

A leading stylist in India has spoken out about all that long hair... It is time for the women of India to get creative with their long hair.  The guys have been more creative in their country.  The men of India love hair gel and hair styles.  The women have some catch-up to do.
